My current event regarded the harsh treatment against Muslims. The incident occurred on January 2nd, 2009. Nine muslim passengers were removed from their flight on Airtran. Apparently, there had been a misinterpretation because the Muslim family had requested a "safer" seat on the plane.
Western View: AirTran apologizes to Muslim family removed from plane
The Western Article simply informed the people with facts, of the situation, and provided a solution. The article stated that AirTran had sincerely apologized and described the kindness that the FBI gave to the Muslims. The article even mentioned that the airline had provided free tickets for the Muslims to fly home. Therefore, once finished with the article, one felt that America had fully fulfilled their responsibility to reimburse the Muslims.

Islamic View: Nine Muslim Passengers Removed from AirTran Flight
The Islamic Article had been written with harsh feelings. The article was extremely biased and suggested that Muslims deserved equal rights and equal treatment. The FBI was recognized for their help, but the airline, called Airtran, was given a poor image.

The articles had similar facts, however there were many biased opinions found in both articles. The title even showed evidence of favoritism. In the western article, the title was 'Airtran Apologizes to Muslim Family Removed from Plane.' The title already informed the reader that they would support the side of Airtran. The western article explained how the problem was resolved and how no hard feelings were shed. Also, the article mentioned how "appreciative" the Muslims were of Airtran's apology and how the FBI helped to clear the matter. On the other hand, the Islamic Article was simply called, 'Nine Muslim Passengers Removed from Airtran Flight.' The article focused on the argument of equality and the rights of Muslims. The Islamic Article suggested that the passengers 'sue' Airtran for their behavior.
